Betty White called out for her late husband just before her tragic death, it has been reported.
The Golden Girls actress sadly passed away on New Year's Eve just days before her 100th birthday.
It has been revealed that the Hollywood star called out the name of her late husband Allen Ludden just before she died on Friday.
American actress Carol Burnett told Betty's former co-star Vicki Lawrence that she'd been in touch with their late friend's assistant following her death and that Betty's final word was 'Allen'.
Vicki, 72, told Page Six on Monday that she contacted Carol, 88, in the wake of their friend's passing.
She told the publication: "'I texted Carol and said: 'This just sucks. I hate this. It’s just horrible to see the people you love so much go away.'
"Carol wrote back and said: 'I know, I know. I spoke to Betty’s assistant, who was with her when she passed, and she said the very last word out of her mouth was Allen.'
"'How sweet is that?' I said, 'That is so sweet. God, I hope that’s true. For all of us, I really hope it’s true, a lovely thought'."
Betty and US game show host Allen tied the knot in 1963 and remained together until his death in 1981 after a cancer battle.
Vicki was the star of the NBC series Mama’s Family, which ran from 1983 until 1984 and Betty played the role of Ellen Harper Jackson on 16 episodes of the show.
Carol is best known for her groundbreaking comedy variety show The Carol Burnett Show, which originally aired on CBS. It was one of the first of its kind to be hosted by a woman.
It comes after Betty performed a poignant act of kindness before her death aged 99.
The star wanted to make an airline worker’s life easier while flying to Los Angeles.
One Twitter user couldn’t help but reminisce: "When celebrities die folks always talk about how nice they were but it's true with Betty White. My ex was a flight attendant for United.
"He was working a [transcontinental flight] from JFK to LAX when he was called to first class. As he was preparing the galley a passenger offered to help him."
The user added: "Before he could say anything this woman picked up the coffee pot and went around to the passengers refilling their cups.
"She was engaging them in conversation. She brought the pot back and they shared a laugh. The passenger was Betty White."
