Chanelle Hayes is completely unrecognisable after undergoing lengthy surgery to transform her looks.
The former Big Brother star spent eight hours going under the knife to revamp her appearance after seeing pictures of herself that dragged her confidence down.
Chanelle, 34, had just begun her weight loss journey when she was photographed leaving the gym with her hair tied back.
The pictures exposed bald patches in her hairline and her thinning hair, leaving Chanelle horrified when she saw them the next day.
The reality TV star has now undergone a hair transplant to combat her confidence issues relating to her hair since finding out she suffers from female pattern baldness.
Chanelle has now opened up to Fabulous about the procedure and that day in 2019 triggered her decision to go under the knife.
She said: "It was awful. I did a 45-minute spin class and I looked ridiculous. I had been working hard at the gym, I was flushed.
"But the next day when the pictures of me were published, my heart just sank. All I could see was how thin my hair was, and my receding hairline.
Though she was "fine" with being "overweight", Chanelle said her hair felt "ridiculous" as she couldn't do anything about it – and didn't return to the gym for a week afterwards.
Chanelle also confessed that trolls started targeting her over hair, prompting her to go to extreme lengths to hide the receding areas.
She had to block "vile trolls" and stop herself from looking at social media comments – adding that they would say "the most ridiculous thing[s]" to her online.
The star was too self-conscious to wear her hair back without a parting, and said she tucked her hair behind her ears in order to disguise her hairline.
She also used root spray so that the colour would stay close to her scalp, while avoiding having highlights done "for years".
Chanelle then spent 18 months researching hair transplants before she discovered the Farjo Hair Institute in Manchester and had her operation in February 2020.
She described the experience: "I was in the chair for eight hours. During the hair transplant, my surgeon removed follicles from a denser area of hair, like the back of my head. He would then implant the follicles into tiny slits on the front area of my scalp."
Chanelle – who spent 62 days in the Big Brother house in 2007 – subsequently got a gastric band in August 2020 which saw her lose an incredible eight stone.
She is now turning away from celebrity life and studying to become an advanced nurse practitioner.
