A Hollywood insider believes Meghan Markle may well return to acting – but only for the "right role".
And even if the Duchess opts against relaunching a career on screen in 2021, as she has said she will, filmmaker Jia Wertz still expects her to make an impact in Tinsel Town in the next 12 months.
Meghan, 39, was carving out an acting career when she got together with Prince Harry, having starred in TV show Suits, as well as movies including Horrible Bosses and Remember Me.
She stopped acting when she married Harry in 2017, but ever since the couple announced they would be stepping back from royal duties last January, rumours of her picking up where she left off have persisted.
A spokesman for Meghan told Daily Star: "The Duchess has no plans to return to acting."
However, in September, Harry and Meghan signed multi-year deal with Netflix to produce content including documentaries, movies and children's shows under their own production company.
While Jia does not expect to see her acting in 2021, she says her return to the industry may well lead to a return to acting, but only if the right role comes along.
She told us: "Considering that Meghan Markle had a 15-year career as an actress and has now signed a production deal with Netflix which is taking her back to the world of Hollywood, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to think she will return to acting for the right role.
"However, I doubt that would happen in 2021 since she and Harry will be focused on their new production company."
The couple dropped the bombshell announcement that they would be stepping back as working members of the royal family in January 2020, just shy of two years since she married into the firm.
Jia added: "The bold and decisive decisions Markle has made by stepping down as a senior member of the royal family and moving back to Southern California indicates that she knows what she wants, and has stated that she has no plans to return to acting.
"Fans may see her appear on camera in her new documentary endeavours though."
Meghan got her big break in 2011 when she secured the role of paralegal Rachel Zane in US show Suits.
Jia said: "One thing is for sure, Markle's fans would be more than happy to see her in cameos, guest roles, or resuming her role as Rachel Zane if a spin-off of Suits came to be."
The couple's Netflix agreement is said to be worth an estimated £75million.
It's also been suggested that they could rake in as much as £180million in bonuses.
