Boy George’s feuds – I’m a Celeb row, Liam Payne spat and George Michael rivalry

Boy George and Scarlette Douglas were caught in a heated conversation on I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, as he was quizzed on his jail term.

In 2009, the Culture Club singer was sentenced to 15 months in jail for falsely imprisoning a male model and escort, and later served four months of the sentence following good behaviour.

However, Boy George took to the Bush Telegraph to say that Scarlette's questioning was "inappropriate," with fans adamant that they could sense a potential feud brewing between the pair.

As viewers wait to see what will happen in tonight's episode of I'm a Celeb, Daily Star takes a closer look inside Boy George's previous feuds.

Scarlette Douglas

Boy George and Scarlette Douglas recently clashed in the I'm a Celeb jungle – and it looks like a feud could be brewing.

Scarlette could be heard asking Boy George about his arrest and four-month jail term, after being found guilty of false imprisonment, but the comments did not sit well with the singer.

The star later took to the Bush Telegraph to hit out at Scarlette's comments, saying: "Scarlette blatantly talked about my court case. I thought it was inappropriate what she did, actually.

"I thought she shouldn’t have said what she said to me,” he said, adding: “And I thought I handled it really well as it’s a big sore point for me when people say things like that."

Reflecting on a separate conversation he had with Matt Hancock and Scarlette, the singer also added: "I just noticed sometimes when I start a debate with Matt, Scarlette comes in and kind of shuts me down a bit or tries to change the subject.

"I don’t know whether Scarlette’s got political aspirations. But sorry, I’m just not going to stop talking. I will say what I want."

However, fans have now taken to social media to point out that a feud may be brewing, with one saying: "Boy George what is your problem with Scarlette?"

"So George is gonna target Scarlette now because she brought up the handcuff story? Classy," said another.

George Michael

George Michael and Boy George were undoubtedly two of the biggest stars of the eighties – with the Karma Chameleon singer revealing that the two had a rivalry during their early days.

Speaking to Piers Morgan on his ITV series Life Stories, Boy George said that despite featuring on one of the biggest hits of the decade – Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas – and featuring on many of the same TV programmes, the two were not close.

"We were not great mates. We knew each other very briefly in the early Eighties before Wham!

"We had our squabbles. He was called George so he was my rival."

However, he revealed that the two did get on with one another in person, despite not becoming close friends.

"We were kind of battling all the time. Every time we did see each other, we got on brilliantly.

"But I suppose our egos would not allow us to be friends."

Madonna

Despite being a massive fan of music megastar Madonna, Boy George has previously revealed that he said some unkind words about the Vogue singer.

He told Huffington Post he was not proud of the comments, explaining: "I’ve said awful things about Madonna and I’m not proud of that at all — I’m really not proud of that because I didn’t know her."

When asked about one comment, where Boy George reportedly called Madonna "vile", Boy George told the Jonathan Ross Show that he was embarrassed by what he had previously said and that he adores the singer.

"It's not something I would say now… it's really just, I'm actually a bit embarrassed I said that," he told Jonathan.

He added: "Madonna… she fascinates me. I love Madonna. Come on, how can you not? Of course I do. She's my contemporary. I've actually just sold some paintings of Madonna that I did."

Liam Payne

Boy George and One Direction star Liam Payne had an unexpected spat in 2013, when the two singers engaged in a war of words on Twitter.

The Culture Club singer reportedly alleged in a tweet that Liam had declined to stop for a photograph with Boy George's niece at the BRIT Awards 2013, saying: "Top marks to Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece and Bo**ox’s to Liam and the disrespectful w**ker of a minder!"

However, Liam hit back at Boy George's claims in a follow up tweet, saying: "@BoyGeorge now now boy lets not tell porkies. Firstly thanks for getting my name wrong three times, then asking me where is Liam?…awkward. Then when you finally got it right saying you wanted Niall instead.

"If you would have asked me for a picture i would have stopped bro I just did what you said and pointed Niall out for you so u just keep wearing ur strange hats and enjoy yourself my little Georgie pie… It’s still not cool you just look weird."

Victoria Beckham

During a recent episode of I'm a Celeb, Boy George revealed he apologised to Victoria Beckham after he ranted about her in a tweet.

In June 2022, the singer had complained about Victoria receiving "preferential treatment" after the pair were departing a British Airways flight.

He called out the airline on Twitter, reportedly accusing them of "leaving everyone in first class waiting," while Victoria was "picked up at the aircraft."

However, speaking to fellow camp mate Seann Walsh on I'm a Celeb, Boy George shared his embarrassment over the tweet and said he apologised to Victoria, after realising she had paid extra for concierge service.

The singer could be heard telling Seann: "There was an article in the paper about when I had my funny little spat with Posh Spice on BA. Did you see it?"

He continued: "You know when you’ve been on a long flight?

"You wake up and you’re in a grumpy mood and you’re trying to get off the plane.

"And they take Posh Spice off before you. I was like, ‘Why are we all having to wait?!

"She just walked off the plane – I could have gone with her! I do that a lot where I’ll tweet something and then just go ‘Why did I tweet that?"

He then revealed he had sent an apology to Victoria for his rant, saying: "So I said to my friend who knows her, ‘Just tell her I’m so sorry.’

"I didn’t realise that she’d paid extra for concierge service."
