Brian May is very active with his Queen content on social media, especially in the run-up to new music releases. Last week, he and Roger Taylor announced the release of their The Miracle sessions single Face It Alone, complete with Freddie Mercury’s vocals 33 years on. Now the 75-year-old has posted an incredible video of a sculptor putting together the late Queen singer’s likeness.

Reposting the video from the Guns N’ Roses guitarist’s Instagram with Bohemian Rhapsody playing, an enthusiastic Brian wrote: “What genius !! I’m indebted to my dear friend SLASH for this post … and if you don’t already follow his IG, well, I recommend taking a stroll over there ! And … to those of you who find Slash’s posts too risqué … it’s easy … just stroll back to where you started. I personally view Mr Slash as a very decent and responsible human being – and I enjoy him challenging our perceptions – of the boundaries of what is ‘normal’ or ‘safe’. I think it’s healthy. But it’s your choice ! And thanks folks for educating me – the incredible sculptor is @julianalepine – massive respects to you Juliana !! Awesome !!! Visit her too !!! Cheers – Bri.”

After celebrating Face It Alone hitting No 1 in the Rock chart with Roger and We Will Rock You writer Ben Elton, Brian has since headed to France.

There the Queen guitarist has been relaxing, relieved to have escaped the chaotic political climate back in the UK.

Sitting by a lake with his wife Anita Dobson, he wrote: “A moment of peace. And precious time making new friends in beautiful Bordeaux. For a moment, all the embarrassing humiliation of Britain by our Government seemed far away. I’m proud and happy still to be a European !!! Photos by Craig Evans —- Bri.”

On unearthing Face It Alone, Brian said: “It was kind of hiding in plain sight. We looked at it many times and thought, oh no, we can’t really rescue that. But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, okay, we can do this and this. It’s like kind of stitching bits together… But it’s beautiful. It’s touching.”

Brian added: “I’m happy that our team were able to find this track.  After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us … yes, Deacy is there too … working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed … until now!”

The single is one of six previously unheard Queen tracks that will feature on the upcoming Queen The Miracle Collector’s Edition, which will be released on November 18.
