BROCKHAMPTON has officially earned their first ever platinum certification as “SUGAR” surpassed 1 million units.
RCA Records shared the announcement with a congratulatory visual that lists the song’s milestones, its positive reviews and live footage of the boy band performing. Some of the GINGER cut’s accolades include its addition to Spotify and Apple Music‘s No. 1 pop playlists, licensing and appearances on Fortnite and the TV show Wireless and the viral TikTok challenge that featured the dance of Ryan Beatty and Matt Champion in the single’s music video. “SUGAR” also marked the group’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry, with the track peaking at No. 66 and staying on the chart for nine weeks.
“SUGAR” served as GINGER’s fifth single and delivered two music videos plus one remix. The first visual, helmed by Kevin Abstract, dropped in December 2019 and and featured NSFW scenes, aliens and a trip to hell, while its February 2020 counterpart was a more relaxed version that saw the group perform in a much tamer setting.
