Camila Cabello Pokes Fun at the Odd Way She Sings Ill Be Home for Christmas

The ‘Senorita’ hitmaker turns to her social media account to respond to criticism over the way she oddly pronounces ‘Christmas’ on the cover of the Bing Crosby classic.

AceShowbizCamila Cabello is not taking criticism seriously. The “Senorita” hitmaker has poked fun at herself after she was dragged for her cursive singing during her rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.

The 25-year-old singer responded to the backlash over the bizarre way she pronounced “Christmas” on the song with a hilarious TikTok video. In footage posted on Tuesday, November 22, she could be seen sitting down as a vocal coach with her past self, trying to correct her pronunciation.

“Yeah so I hear you’re recording a new Christmas cover, that’s really exciting. Okay, so we’re just going to practice some phrasing, so repeat after me,” the new Camila says before demonstrating how to sing the word “Christmas” correctly. Past Camila, however, croons, “I’ll be home for Quismois.”

After a few more failed attempts, the vocal coach gives up. “It’s gonna be great,” she shrugs. The hilarious video is captioned, “Me before recording my version of I’ll be home for christmas (quismois).”

Needless to say, people found the video absolutely funny and flocked to the comment section to heap praise on Camila for being able to laugh at herself. “WE LOVE A CELEBRITY THAT CAN TAKE A JOKE,” one said, while another wrote, “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH QUISMOIS QUEEN.”

“You’re so real for this Camilla,” someone else wrote. Another agreed, “I love how she doesnt take it personal and makes it a joke, some people would be extremely upset.” One more echoed, “Being able to laugh and make fun of yourself is such a good quality to have. We love you!”

The Grammy nominee went viral last year when she oddly pronounced the name of the holiday during a PBS performance of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” at the White House. People were left shocked by her unique take on the Bing Crosby classic, turning “quismois” and “quiz mice” into a meme that resurfaced on TikTok this year.

“Yes Camila, I too will be home for quismois,” one user wrote. Others joked that Camila sings “in cursive,” while some fans questioned who approved of her take on the song. “I’m so sorry everybody but I will be canceling Christmas this year because wtf was that… why’d they let her release that,” one TikToker wrote.

Despite the criticism, “The Voice” judge is leaning into the meme this year, revealing she dropped her version of the track on all streaming services. “I recorded this mariachi cover of my favorite Christmas song last year on @amazonmusic,” she wrote on Instagram on November 5, accompanied by a photo of herself as a baby. “it’s out on all platforms now, and I’m still super proud of it. Enjoy.”
