Big Brother's Pete Bennett has revealed Catherine Tate sent a personal apology to him after his scene was scrapped from her new film.
The reality star, 40, admitted he was "p***ed off" when he found out about his scene being cut from the comedy flick, called The Nan Movie, which came out earlier this month (March 18).
The film stars Doctor Who actress Catherine and Gavin and Stacey actor Matthew Horne, and Pete travelled all the way to Dublin to shoot his scene for the film in 2019.
Sadly, though, he found out his scene had been cut just before the film's premiere.
Pete spoke out about Catherine's apology to him on FUBAR Radio – an interview which aired on Thursday (March 31).
Dishing on the drama to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Access All Areas, Pete said Catherine reached out to tell him the scene had been axed due to technical difficulties, and that she was "gutted" about it.
He said: "Just before the film came out, I got a very apologetic email from Catherine Tate saying due to purely technical reasons, our scene in the lift together has been cut out and she’s gutted."
Confessing he was upset, he said: "I was like noooo, it’s such a shame, I was so p***ed off."
However, he later came to terms with the decision and he appreciated Catherine reaching out to him directly to apologise.
He said: "I took it on the chin and it was so sweet that Catherine apologised herself in the email."
Chatting about how he landed the role, Pete explained his agent suggested he audition for the role, which saw him travel to London and audition in front of Catherine herself.
He said "[Catherine] wanted people with Tourette’s in it. So my agent said, ‘hey this might be good for you’ and I said, well of course it is!"
Revealing he was a massive fan of Tate, the actor added: "In my audition I just called her all the names under the sun and she called me lots of rude words as well… I was really happy because I really like her, I’m a massive fan."
It turns out Catherine was surprised Pete was so star-struck during their meeting.
Pete said: "I went out there buzzing you know coz she’s going ‘you’re off the telly’ and I was like, ‘you’re actually star struck… with me?’ She liked me! She actually knew me from Big Brother."
Although he was cut from the movie, it didn't stop the singer attending its premiere in London on March 15.
Despite his scene not appearing in the final cut, Pete thought it was a "wicked film" and laughed his head off.
Pete said: "I did watch the film and I still think it’s a wicked film. I laughed my head off and its fine that this bit is cut out because the pacing is really good."
For fans wanting the pair to collaborate, Pete teased a future project between him and the comedian.
The star said: "Here’s a little bit of inside information. We might possibly be working on something in the future."
"Ohhhh, what’s gonna happen…?’ I don’t know, but she kind of did say, ‘don’t worry Pete, we’re gonna do something,’ he added.
Pete's interview with Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng aired on FUBAR Radio.
