Celebrity Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton has opened up about her terrifying heart condition that once caused doctors to stop her heart.
The condition, which is called Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) causes the heart to suddenly race up to 400 beats per minute and can happen at any time.
The 38-year dubbed the condition “terrifying” and explained that one severe episode caused doctors to stop her heart.
Speaking to Daily Star, she said: “I have episodes probably 3 or 4 times per year but different thing can bring it on. If I have like anxiety or stress whatever.
“The worse one was a few years ago I was in it for 4 hours and they actually had to stop my heart which was really terrifying.
"It’s not a life-threatening condition or anything but it’s obviously really scary because it’s your heart and when it happens you’re supposed to stay calm.
“But it’s really hard to stay calm when inside I’m basically running a marathon when I’m actually just sat on the sofa.”
The star also detailed the backlash she received for posting a snap of herself over Christmas in an ambulance after an episode where she thanked the NHS for their hard work amid the pandemic.
Referring to the picture she posted on social media, she said: “I was in an ambulance and they had just got my heart out of the episode. I was absolutely fine but obviously they kept monitoring my heart just for precaution and they did take me to the hospital.
“I posted that picture on Instagram and it was purely just to say thank you to the NHS because they’ve obviously been amazing through the pandemic and they deserve the support for all the care and hard work they’ve done.
She went on to detail how one person threatened to knock her out if they were in the ambulance.
“I got such a backlash for posting that picture. Like asking why you’re in the back of an ambulance. One person said if I’d have been the paramedic, I would’ve knocked you out.
“I know the picture was of me, but I didn’t make the post anything about me I was for the NHS it genuinely wasn’t for attention for myself”
The former Paris Hilton lookalike said she was born with condition but didn’t discover it until 10 years ago.
“There is a procedure I can get where they go up through your thigh and freeze the bits of the heart that are causing this to happen. There is also medication I can take if it gets really bad,’ she added.
