Here, Daily Star takes a look at celebrities, including Angelina, who you may not know were related to the Queen.

Angelina Jolie

Ancestry.co.uk discovered that Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is connected to both French and British royalty.

Not only is she descended from French King Prince Philip II, but she is also the 26th cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.

Angelina and the Queen were also reported to have built a close relationship after Angelina was bestowed an honorary damehood in 2014.

The actress hosted a documentary called The Queen's Green Planet, and speaking about the royal at the time to Marie Claire, she paid tribute saying: "She’s just this really lovely lady who really cares about people around the world, and she really cares about the future, and she wants your grandkids and her grandkids to be able to be running around, enjoying nature and other cultures…

"She thinks that really matters and I agree with her."

Hilary Duff

How I Met Your Father and Lizzie McGuire actress Hilary Duff was given the title of "America's most royal celebrity" in 2012, after a study found that she was closely related to The Queen.

As reported by CBS News, FindMyPast.com revealed that she was the 18th cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, after they discovered that she had a "gateway ancestor" – somebody who has a long-proven descent from royalty.

This gateway ancestor was found to be Alexander Spotswood – an officer in The British Army, and the 10th great-grandson of Edward III.

The relation means that Hilary Duff is the closest American celebrity relative of the Queen.

Brooke Shields

Following in Hilary Duff's footsteps is Hollywood actress and model Brooke Shields, who is the second most closely related American celebrity to The Queen.

Marie Claire reported that Brooke is Queen Elizabeth's 18th cousin, once removed, due to an ancestral relation to Henry II of France.

The star also discovered her British and French royal family links on the US series of Who Do You Think You Are, where she learnt that she was directly related to French royalty including King Henry IV and that Louis XIV was a cousin, many generations removed.

Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal

The third most closely related American celebrities to the Queen are siblings Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hollywood stars Maggie and Jake discovered that through their ancestry, they are descendants of King Edward III, who ruled in England from 1154 to 1189.

This means that the famous siblings are the Queen's 19th cousins – but they are not the only Hollywood stars who are 19th cousins of Queen Elizabeth II.

Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas is yet another Hollywood icon who is related to the Queen, and like Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal, is also a 19th cousin.

His family are related to King Edward III, who was the Queen's 17th great-grandfather and a direct ancestor of Michael Douglas.

This ancestral connection means that Michael is also the 19th cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.

Hugh Grant

British film legend Hugh Grant is another Hollywood star with a royal connection to the Queen.

The star's ancestry can be traced back to King Henry VII of England, who was the first Tudor monarch and father of Henry VIII.

This connection means that he is Queen Elizabeth's ninth cousin, once removed.

Hugh's ancestral links also date back to King James IV of Scotland.

Paris Hilton

Heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton is related to Queen Elizabeth II on her father's side of the family.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan Magazine, Paris revealed that her mother decided to do a DNA test, after a psychic told Paris that she was distantly related to the royal family.

Following the DNA test, it was revealed that the star and her family are descended from King Henry II, making her the Queen's 20th cousin.

Paris said: "Other psychics have said I’m related to Marilyn Monroe and things like that. My mom just did one of those 23andMe DNA kits and I am related to Marilyn Monroe and Queen Elizabeth."

Beyonce

Global music superstar Beyoncé is nicknamed "Queen B" by her fans, but she also has a real life royal connection to Queen Elizabeth II.

It is reported by FindMyPast.com that Beyonce is the 25th cousin, once removed, of the Queen.

This is due to Beyonce and the Queen sharing an ancestor, King Henry II, who was Queen Elizabeth's 24th great-grandfather.
