Billed as Britain’s answer to Marilyn Monroe, the real-life story of the 1950s Blackpool beauty echoes that of Barbara Parker, played by Gemma Arterton in the show.

Singer Madonna is reckoned to have had hers insured for £1.2million, while 80s icon Sam Fox insured hers for £500,000 each.
Playboy model Holly Madison got a £600,000 policy on hers. But country crooner Dolly Parton, famous for her 40DD chest, recently rubbished reports it was insured for £480,000.
Teeth
Comedian Ken Dodd’s wonky pegs were so valuable to his act the star once insured them for £4million.
Ugly Betty star America Ferrera’s brace-covered gnashers were insured by TV bosses for around £5million.
Smile
Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts is famous for her mega-watt grin, so it’s not surprising she reportedly got it insured for a cool £20million.
Tongue
Cheeky Miley Cyrus got her tongue insured for £665,000 following her 2013 VMAs performance, while Kiss frontman Gene Simmons’ is worth £500,000.
Hands
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards insured his hands for £1million, while F1 driving ace Fernando Alonso is said to have had his crucial thumbs covered for £9million.
Legs
After becoming the face of Gillette’s Legs Of A Goddess campaign, it was reported singer Mariah Carey’s pins were insured for a knee-trembling £700million, but more recently for a modest £35 million.
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo ’s legs were once covered for £90million while model Heidi Klum’s legs are insured for £1.4million. The star say she got less for her left leg because it has a small scar.
Waist
Back in the 1940s movie star Bette Davis had her tiny waist insured for $28,000 – in case it grew any bigger. That’s equivalent to £390,000 at today’s prices.
Bum
Spinning Around singer Kylie Minogue, famous for strutting her stuff in gold hot pants, had her buttocks insured for £3million, but fellow pop star Jennifer Lopez recently poo-pooed reports her derriere was insured for anything up to £227million.
Feet
Soccer star Gareth Bale once revealed his golden left foot was insured, with an expert from William Hill estimating that it could have been valued at £100million.
Moustache
Lippy Aussie cricketer Merv Hughes once got a £370,000 policy on his trademark face fuzz.
Vocal chords
Born in the USA singer Bruce Springsteen had his voice covered for around £3million.
Chest hair
Turns out it was unusual after all…Welsh singer Tom Jones insists reports he insured it for £3.5million are just hot hair.
Hair
Former American football star Troy Polamalu, who didn’t cut his luscious locks for years, covered them for £670,000 while advertising Head and Shoulders.
Penis
Talk about leaving it in your willy! Dreamboys and Big Brother star Lotan Carter got his manhood insured for a hefty £12million package.
Sperm
In the 1980s Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth even insured his sperm for £650,000. That’s just nuts
