Cheryl ‘regretting distance that developed’ between her and pal Sarah Harding

Singer Cheryl is reportedly regretting growing apart from her former Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding and hopes to make up for lost time.

When the group split in 2013, Cheryl remained best friends with Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, but trio grew distant from Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding.

After Sarah, 39, revealed her cancer diagnosis, Cheryl is said to be keen to "make up for lost time" and wants to put their "silly squabbles" to one side.

Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has since said that she has been told by doctors that Christmas 2020 could be her last one, as the cancer has spread to her spine.

A source told OK! magazine: "This diagnosis – nothing else compares.

"Sarah is fighting for her life and all their silly squabbles they had in Girls Aloud just pale in significance. They’re not even comparable.

"It’s made Cheryl realise what’s important and she wants to make up for lost time'.

The distance between the girls in the past has been publicised in the past, with Nadine admitting she went for years without speaking to the women after they split.

But it seems that they have all come together once more to help support Sarah through her devastating cancer battle.

Cheryl recently said that Sarah has been on her brain "every waking hour" since learning about her breast cancer diagnosis.

She reflected on how she reacted to learning about the illness in an excerpt from Sarah's book Hear Me Out, which was published by Glamour.

She wrote: "The news of Sarah's illness hit me so hard. Since that day, she's been on my brain every waking hour – so much so that I feel like I want to be with her."

She added that at first she felt 'hopeless' after the news and didn't know what the right thing was to say to Sarah at the time.

Cheryl continued: "Now I just want to be there for her in any way I can. She might want to cry or rant or even have a laugh, but wherever it is, just be there.

"To hear her talk about what might have been in her life, and what should have been, destroys me. It's broken me now, just thinking about it."
