Christine McGuinness diagnosed with ADHD and finding out ‘opened her life’

Christine McGuinness has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Daily Star can reveal.

The condition, known as ADHD, causes people to be restless and impulsive and it is estimated one in 25 Brit adults have it.

Christine sees her diagnosis as liberating as it helps her understand some of her characteristics.

She said: “I’ve now been diagnosed with ADHD, autism and dyspraxia.

“Knowledge is key. If you know the situation, you’re able to deal with it. So getting a diagnosis has really opened up my life.

“It’s given me so much more opportunity to understand why I was the way I was.”

The star recently opened up about a nightmare trip to hospital after she and husband Paddy McGuinness attempted a playful lift in a swimming pool.

In an excerpt of her memoir, A Beautiful Nightmare, the Liverpudlian said: "He lifted me up and I sort of went over to go into the water and I cut my chin open at the bottom of the swimming pool.

"Then I had to go to the hospital and get stitches on the first day."

The former Real Housewives of Cheshire star later explained that their romantic trip happened before welcoming their three children when Paddy, 48, first started presenting ITV's Take Me Out.

She recently opened up on Paddy's health after the Top Gear presenter underwent surgery on his knee after waiting six months for surgery.

However, she joked that Paddy was "absolutely" fine and was instead "milking" the attention during his recovery.
