Coronation Street star Enid Dunn has revealed she "cried" after her missing purse was returned.
The Bury-based actress has donned a number of roles on the ITV soap over the years and posting to Facebook on Saturday, revealed a goodhearted stranger returned her purse to an Aldi store in Rawtenstall after she lost it at a packing station while shopping.
"A big thank you to the person who handed in my purse at Aldi in Rawtenstall this afternoon I had foolishly left it on the packing station," Enid wrote on social media.
Revealing that she didn't realise her purse was missing until she reached a local garden centre, Enid added: "Of course I was in such a panic.
"The girl behind the counter at the garden centre was called Mandy she even rang the shops where I thought it could be. A big thank you to her as well.
"There are so many good people yet we only read about the bad. Thank you thank you thank you."
Enid is the mother of Coronation Street legend Antony Cotton, who portrays Sean Tully.
She later told local press that as well as everyday items, the purse also had great sentimental value as it contained a "keepsake" note from Enid's mother which she has possessed for almost half a century.
She later told Manchester Evening News: "I've no idea who it was who handed it in but I'm eternally grateful."
"I started to cry when they handed me my purse. Glad I wore my mask as I must have looked a sight.
"It’s not about the money but my whole life is in it – bus pass driving licence, bank cards.
