Jordan Davis has become a country music megastar. He signed his first record deal in 2016, and the following year dropped the track “Singles You Up.” In 2018, Davis released his debut album titled Home State. In 2021, he put out the popular single “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan off the album of the same name.
Now, Davis is admitting that there’s something fans should know about that song’s follow-up single.
Davis is a huge New Orleans Saints fan
Davis was born on March 30, 1988, to parents Luwanna and Ricky Davis in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended C.E. Byrd High School before enrolling in Louisiana State University.
Davis spoke to 92.3 The Fan’s Afternoon Drive in Cleveland about how he grew up loving the New Orleans Saints because of where he’s from.
“[I] grew up a Saints fan. We don’t have a [baseball] team for Louisiana, so I’m a [Texas] Rangers fan,” he told the show hosts before emphasizing that he’s a “huge Saints fan and a really big LSU guy.”
After he graduated from college with a degree in Environmental Science, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Davis admits the $4,000 bet on the team was fake
Davis also chatted with the hosts about sports betting and his alter ego, Shades Davis.
“Shades is a degenerate gambler to be honest with you. For some reason it’s easier to see Shades Davis lose money as it is Jordan Davis, or at least easier to tell my wife,” he joked. “I’m a huge sports better, it’s actually something we did during March Madness out in Vegas … The first time I ever bet was in college, probably a junior at LSU.”
The country music artist then revealed that his alter ego’s $4,000 bet on his favorite NFL team to win the Super Bowl was fake.
“Here’s the thing on this. That’s a fake betting slip. We Photoshopped it,” Davis admitted. “But what we put in there was the release date of our new single … That was about my new single, the follow-up single to ‘Buy Dirt’ … I am a Saints fan. I’m hoping the best for them [but] I am not a $4,000 Saints fan.”
Why performing at the Fatherhood Festival is going to be so special
Since 2017, Davis has been married to Kristen O’Connor. The couple welcomed two children together and that’s why he’s super excited to perform at the Fatherhood Festival taking place on June 18 in Canton, Ohio.
“This is right up my alley. I’m a new dad. I’ve got a 2-and-a-half-year-old and an 8-month-old,” Davis stated. “The second I saw this come through on the calendar and read about it — you mix football, Father’s Day, and a bunch of dads walking around — you can’t beat it … There’s nothing better than my kiddos and being a dad.”
