Dan Walker lifts lid on feud with TV rival Piers Morgan after BBC Breakfast digs

Dan Walker has spoken out about his long-running feud with Piers Morgan, while dubbing him a "brilliant broadcaster," – and confessed that he misses their verbal jousting since Piers took a hiatus from the limelight.

The Sun reported that the BBC Breakfast favourite said: "Piers is a brilliant broadcaster. He’s a very clever bloke and actually I’ve enjoyed our jousting over the years.

"I miss that because I think we’re both competitive.

"He crossed a line a few times, which I resolutely didn’t, but I’m looking forward to seeing him back on telly."

Piers has taken a hiatus from appearing on television, quitting ITV’s Good Morning Britain back in March when he stormed off set in a huff while talking about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah interview.

But fans of the broadcaster can rejoice in 2022, when the 56-year-old will make a return to the small screen when he joins Talk TV.

Dan then added: "From what I have seen of Good Morning Britain, it’s been nice to see some of the other great personalities and presenters have a bit more space to talk."

Piers and Dan have been loggerheads for years, with the former GMB star using his platform on numerous occasions to take aim at the BBC Breakfast newsreader – although they appear to be friendly enemies of late.

This comes though as Piers passed comment on Dan's Strictly Come Dancing exit.

The 44-year-old BBC Breakfast host was kicked off Strictly last weekend, missing out on securing a spot in the coveted semi-finals.

Dan took to Twitter to address his axing, saying: "Well… what a ride! #Strictly has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I enjoyed every second. @NadiyaBychkova is a superstar: kind, encouraging, funny, clever, the best teacher I could ever have hoped for & a great friend.

"Thanks for the support & thanks for having us."

Piers was quick to chime in: "You came 5th, mate. She needed a better pupil."

Initially pair became entwined in a furious Twitter feud, with Dan originally typing: "Hello there @BBCBreakfast people. We’re up, we’re on… Are you with us?"

Piers hopped on to stir the pot a bit, replying: "No mate, they’re watching @GMB."

Things didn’t stop there, as Dan fired back: "No… they really aren’t Piers #FakeNews."
