Davina McCall admits living with ex-hubby Matthew Robertson was ‘awkward’

Davina McCall has admitted that having to live with her ex-husband Matthew Robertson was "awkward" following their split.

Davina and Matthew were married for 17 years and have three children together – Holly, Tilly and Chester.

They tied the knot back in 2000 at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, with Matthew also seeming to have a vibrant TV career as he was host of Pet Rescue, and made appearances on comedy show Sam’s Games.

Announcing their split in November 2017, the former couple said their "amazing children" are their "number one priority", and didn’t want to disclose any further information at the time.

But the family spent one last Christmas together in 2017, as Davina posted a heartfelt message to her Instagram story, but told HELLO! magazine that people had mistaken it as a cry for help.

"People took [the post] as a cry for help that I was on my own, but actually Matthew and I decided, for the kids’ sake, that we would all be together this Christmas.

"We were all together and I wasn’t alone. But [the messages were] really sweet," she said.

But now Davina has admitted that the phase of living together was "awkward" in an interview with Good Housekeeping.

"The summer after my [50th] birthday, Matthew and I had split up, and I was in a real transitional phase of my life," The Masked Dancer panelist told the publication.

"We’d still been living in our house together, which was awkward. I hadn’t moved on and I was in this weird no-man’s land.

"But then I moved out and started renting a place and that felt like the first step in a new phase," the brunette beauty added.

"I thought ‘Okay, we can look forward now. It was transformative. And since then, I’ve really tried to simplify my life and scale it down, which has been a very positive thing," she concluded.

Davina added that going through a divorce is "an enormous deal" and that the process "really is hard".

Now she has moved on and has been dating former celebrity hair stylist Michael Douglas since 2019.
