Deadliest Catch star Mahlon Reyes died of a cocaine overdose, an inquest has heard.
The reality star died at the age of 38 on July 27 of last year, with his cause of death listed as a cocaine intoxication by Flathead County Sheriff and Coroner Brian Heino.
Mahlon rose to fame as one of the deckhands on the popular Discovery Channel reality show Deadliest Catch.
He suffered a heart attack, and was subsequently put on life support, but failed to regain consciousness.
Mahlon's ashes were to be scattered in the Bering Sea by his co-stars – fellow deckhands – from Deadliest Catch.
Coroner Heino told TMZ his death had been ruled as accidental.
His wife Heather Sullivan also added the young reality star had no known existing health conditions, leaving the family blindsided by his death.
At the time, Mahlon's family released a statement paying tribute to the late star, adding he was surrounded by his loved ones in his final days.
It read: "On Sunday night our family together made the hardest choice we've ever made and that was to remove him from life support.
"Mahlon's body was tired and had put up an amazing fight. He was the strongest guy we knew.
"He was surrounded by so much love."
His co-star, Nick Glashan, died several months after Mahlon's death.
On December 28, Glashan died in Tenessee at the age of 33, having reportedly battled drug and alcohol addiction for years.
Discovery Channel paid tribute to the late star, saying: "Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nick’s loved ones during this difficult time.
“Nick came from a long line of crabbers and was known for his great depth of knowledge. He also had a sharp sense of humor even in the most difficult conditions.
"He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.”
