Demi Lovato has revealed we should stop using the term "alien" when referring to extraterrestrials.
The singer made the bizarre claim while being interviewed by Australian outlet PEDWSTRIAN.tv that aliens should be referred to as ETs.
Demi is currently plugging a new Peacock special of theirs called Unidentified, where they and friends go on a road trip looking for proof of UFOs.
The 29-year-old said: "I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now.
"But, I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything.
"That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.
It is unclear if aliens are out their but Demi and friends are not happy about them being referred to as "foreigners".
By definition that is what they would in fact be known as but the term does carry negativity when applied to actual people.
However, the star might want to speak to the show's bosses as in the official description of the programme they are referred to as aliens.
Demi came out as non-binary in May and uses them/they pronouns, the star explained what they think the biggest misconceptions are.
Demi added: "What if there already here waiting for us to reach out.
"I think the ones that bother me are that they're harmful or that they'll come and take over the planet."
Fans have rushed to Twitter to slam the singer over the alien statement.
One said: “Wanna know how stupid people are in the year 2021? #demilovato says 'alien' is a derogatory term for extraterrestrials… Welcome 2021, where you can literally be offended by anything & you are applauded for it.”
Another asked whether the star and friends had "lost their damn mind."
The new four-part documentary follows Demi, BFF Matthew, and sister Dallas looking for insight into the reality of UFO's.
During the episodes, they pick the brains of elite scientists and eyewitnesses who claim to have encountered aliens.
