Eamonn Holmes revealed what it was like working with his wife Ruth Langsford on This Morning as he leaves the ITV show for GB News.
The veteran broadcaster quickly dismissed any questions on his other colleagues such as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield just hours before the news broke that he was leaving the daytime show.
Eamonn is set to present his own programme on the new British news channel in the New Year – calling it one of the "most exciting" start-ups he'll have worked on during his career.
The Irish broadcaster spoke exclusively to Daily Star about his time on the hit daytime show at the People's Pet Awards on Thursday (December 9).
He and Ruth joined This Morning in 2006 as regular Friday hosts, and they've filled in for Holly and Phil when they aren't available – such as in the school holidays.
When asked what it was like to present This Morning with Ruth, Eamonn said it was a "privilege" to work with someone that he has such a 'telepathic' and "real" connection with.
Eamonn said: "It's always a privilege to work with someone who you have a telepathy with, a connection with and unlike a lot of partnerships this is real.
"It's as real as it gets – warts and all so it's always a great privilege."
However, when asked about his time working with Holly and Phil, and what his funniest moments were with the stars, he simply refused the question and said: "No".
Hinting at his big career move just hours before the news broke, he added: "No questions on This Morning. You'll see why…"
Later on in the chat, Eamonn opened up about his rescue dog Maggie, who he adopted from a dog shelter 12 years ago.
"Since I adopted an animal 12 years ago… it's a member of the family now. We can't think of life without her and she made me see animals in a whole different way.
"And I changed my views and empathy towards animals. They're just the most loving creatures and they give this unconditional love and who wouldn't want that? It's just lovely."
"I mean I was too busy for an animal.
"I didn't really think about it and then you got a shelter and the dog picks you. You don't pick the dog."
Eamonn is set to present his own programme on the "anti-woke" news channel, and he explained that he's looking forward to giving a voice to the "unheard".
On joining GB News, he said: "I've spent my career on broadcast firsts and start-ups, and GB News is one of the most exciting yet – it's just the kind of shake-up the industry needs.
"I've admired GB News from the beginning for its clever mix of punchy debate but delivered with warmth and even some fun.
"To me the greatest honour in journalism is to give a voice and respect to the unheard, and that's exactly what GB News is all about."
ITV has since confirmed that Ruth will remain on the ITV Daytime team and continue working on This Morning, as well as an anchor presenter on Loose Women.
The Mirror People's Pet Awards, in partnership with Dogs Trust and Webbox, will premiere on YouTube on 14th December at 7pm.
