EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison looks totally unrecognisable after a decade away from Albert Square.

The actress who frequently keeps her social media followers entertained and updated on her life has had a dramatic image overhaul in recent years.

Cheryl, 56, like many, has been making the most of the recent heatwave which has scorched the UK over the past week and was keen to showcase her dramatic new look as she enjoyed a day out.

The actress enjoyed a day out at Manchester's MediaCity UK on Thursday (August 18) as she cheered on her son, Alex, who was participating in a street performance.

However, Cheryl's slimmed-down frame took centre stage as the proud mum happily took pictures and videos of her son.

The mum-of-one opted for a relaxed look as she slipped into a bright v-neck top decorated with pink patterns and flowers while wearing a pair of cargo-styled ankle-length trousers and a pair of black sandals.

She wore her caramel tresses in natural waves, cascading down her back as she waved at fans who had spotted her from her time on the BBC One soap.

Cheryl couldn't help but gush over her son Alex as she took to Instagram to praise him alongside a string of pictures and videos from the performance.

She wrote: "@proudandloudart here today @mediacityuk it certainly was a proud moment watching this group perform their street theatre piece 'Chess pieces' and proud of my son @alexsaddiqi and his involvement working as a professional actor with this superb group of people.

"Challenges in life make us what we are today and overcoming fears makes us proud to have tried…. Well done all as I know how anxious some of you members were but you smashed it out of the park…

"Giving voice and movement for disabled performers… 'We exist to increase opportunities for new, emerging & skilled artists, living with disability, to create vibrant work in public spaces.'"

In recent weeks, Cheryl has been spending quality time with her pals, Anne and Maureen Nolan of The Nolans, with the pair documenting their days out on social media.

The group enjoyed a night out for dinner at a local pub in Lytham after recently attending the Lytham Festival where the likes of Nile Rodgers and Lewis Capaldi entertained crowds.

During the festival, the pair partied in style as they relaxed in the swanky VIP lounge while sipping on drinks which appeared to be wine.
