The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker admit he is worried he would mess things up if he teams up with the ‘When We Were Young’ singer because her music is ‘so good.’
AceShowbiz –Ed Sheeran doesn’t want to collaborate with Adele for fear of “messing with” her tried and tested formula for success.
Despite being two of Britain’s most popular singers, Ed and Adele have yet to team up on a tune – and according to the “Bad Habits” hitmaker, some things are better left alone.
Speaking on WKTU’s “Carolina with Greg T in the Morning Show”, he said, “She doesn’t really collab with anyone.”
“Her thing is so good that like you don’t want to mess with that.”
However, Ed confessed he’s known Adele for the past 15 years and called her “lovely.”
“I’ve actually known her for about 15 years,” he said. “She used to tour with a guy named Jack Penate. My cousin was the housemate of Jack’s drummer and she used to open up (for them) when she was younger. She used to sit on a stool with a bass guitar and sing, so I ended up seeing her at all these tiny, tiny, tiny shows.”
“When she obviously went on and had success, I had success about three years later and we bumped into each other and it’s really nice to have someone that you’ve known for that long.”
He concluded, “I mean I don’t know her super, super well, but you know, we are both British and we have a fair bit in common so yeah, she is lovely.”
Both Ed Sheeran and Adele have new albums coming out this year.
