Singing and songwriting sensation Ed Sheeran has tested positive for coronavirus and needs to self-isolate, days before his hotly-anticipated album release date
The Shivers singer has announced that because of the positive test result, he has self isolate, meaning all in-person and face-to-face commitments have had to be cancelled.
Ed took to Instagram to break the news of his positive test result to fans, which no doubt left them shocked and upset.
Writing on the social media platform, Ed posted the words on his Instagram story that read: "Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I've sadly tested positive for Covid, so I'm now self-isolating and following government guidelines.
"It means that I am unable to plough ahead with any in-person commitments for now, so I'll be doing as many of my planned interviews/ performances as I can from my house."
He concluded: "Apologies to anyone I've let down. Be safe everyone x".

Despite Ed's positive test result, fans will still get to hear the new album on Friday, October 29.
This worrying news comes as the hit-making singing sensation revealed that he's teamed up with Sir Elton John for a Christmas duet this year.
The Bad Habits singer previously said: "I've never really wanted to do a Christmas song. It really just hit home how stuff can just change overnight.

"I was like, 'Why the f***k am I not doing a Christmas song with Elton John? I might not be here tomorrow, this will be a f***ing great way to celebrate Christmas’.”
In a recent interview, Elton confirmed the duet, claiming he was "sworn to secrecy," while Ed is a "f***ing big mouth".
Elton said the following in the new interview: "He let the cat out of the bag didn't he?

"I was sworn to secrecy and then big mouth f***ing Sheeran goes to the Netherlands!"
Elton then provided fans with an update on the track's progress: "It's supposed to come out – we haven't finished it yet, so there's still work to be done."
