After The Beatles, Elvis Presley is the most successful music artist of all. But the difference was that, unlike the Fab Four, The King was on his own. Fans know the star, but did they really know the man? Elvis famously said before his 1972 Madison Square Garden concert: “Well the image is one thing; a human being is another. It’s very hard to live up to an image. I’ll put it that way.”
Now Elvis’ former girlfriend Mindi Miller, who dated The King from 1975-6 has shared just how different he was in private.
Speaking with Elvis Presley expert Billy Stallings Spa Guy, the 70-year-old said: “You only saw a small percentage of who he really was on stage.
“Because he was there to entertain you. And I remember there were many things he told me, many, many things.
“And one of the things he always said was, ‘We are all teachers and we are all students.’”
