Eminem dubbed legend and icon after incredible Super Bowl half-time show

Eminem sent Super Bowl fans and social media wild with his jaw-dropping performance that saw him take the knee.

The superstar rapper took the knee during his epic set, where he performed a snippet of 'Forgot About Dre' as well as 'Lose Yourself'.

The star-studded performance mixed a host of 90s classic tunes from a top-billed lineup, including Eminem, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Kendrick Lamar and a special appearance by 50 Cent.

Despite all of the artists being welcomed by cheers for their sets, it was 46-year-old Eminem who received the most piercing of screams by delighted fans.

Proceeding Kendrick Lamar, Eminem was the final performer to take the mic where he blasted his lyrics for his two tracks.

After his stunning rap, Eminem immediately dropped to one knee – despite being advised not to – in defiance of the NFL, which sent shockwaves throughout the stadium.

The gesture, which has become symbolic of the Black Lives Matter movement, created quite a reaction and has led to the artist being branded as a "legend" and an "icon".

Eminem took Twitter by storm as thousands of fans lapped up his incredible set and celebrated his boldness.

One fan tweeted: "Eminem took the knee despite NFL told him not to. Legend behaviour. #PepsiHalftime #HalfTimeShow #Eminem"

Another penned: "The NFL told em not to take a knee. If you tell Eminem not to do something, slim shady will do it instead. An ICON #Eminem #PepsiHalftime."

A third gleeful fan wrote: "Eminem absolutely killed it! that was the best Super Bowl half time performance to date!"

Dre and Snoop kicked off the spectacle with a performance of 'The Next Episode', and they then made their way to the roof for 'California Love'.

Next in the medley, surprise guest 50 Cent appeared upside down for 'In da Club'.

Mary J Blige then took to the rooftop for 'Family Affair' and 'No More Drama' followed by Kendrick who sang 'Alright'.

The 2022 Super Bowl took place on Sunday [13 February] at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where the Los Angeles Rams took on the Cincinnati Bengals.
