Emma Bunton confesses she once lactated on stage during the Spice Girls reunion

Spice Girl Emma Bunton has written a new book, and it seems she hasn’t been shy when it comes to sharing personal details.

Baby Spice’s book is called Mama You Got This, and in it, she remembered when she had to rush off stage in the middle of a performance as she began lactating.

The star was desperate for fans not to notice and was worried about the milk seeping through her outfit.

She was wearing a stylish Roberto Cavalli dress and was onstage just four months after she had given birth to her son Beau.

Emma, 45, had been breastfeeding as well as using formula because of her hectic schedule and was in the middle of a performance at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

In an extract of the new book, published in The Sun, she said: "I remember it happened during Say You’ll Be There – I was wearing a rose-gold dress with an empire line and a high neck, with gold lamé that was quite close-fitting over my boobs.

"I had to get through a whole other track, Headlines, just hoping nothing was showing."

She ran to partner Jade Jones for help.

She continued: "As it ended I came running off stage screaming at Jade, ‘Babes, get the pads! Get the pads!"

Emma revealed her relief that the majority of the milk had "drizzled down my stomach".

She did add that if anyone had looked particularly closely they might have noticed patches.

Now a mum-of-three, Emma says she didn’t stop to think about how much her body would be put through on tour.

She admits in hindsight that breastfeeding, combined with being on tour and the sleepless nights of a young baby, was not the best idea.

"There were a lot of tears and a fair amount of self-recrimination,” she said.

During an appearance on This Morning earlier this week, the pop star told Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield how much Victoria Beckham helped her on tour.

Emma also revealed she asked her physio what is wrong with her as she struggled during the tour.

"He laughed and said, 'What do you mean what's wrong with me?' You've just had a baby, your hips aren't back in place, your pelvis’. I just wasn't ready, I went back too quick the first time, definitely."
