Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter begs fans to help after influx of unsolicited texts

Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter has been subjected to harassment after receiving a string of messages from a stranger who has her mobile number without her consent.

The Chas Dingle star confessed to being bombarded with texts from the unknown caller as she sought help from her fans on Twitter about what she can do to get rid of them.

Lucy, 44, appeared to be desperate for a solution for the problem as she confided in her followers on the social networking site.

She wrote: "Can someone help? I’ve been having text messages from someone who doesn’t have my number by consent, and who won’t leave me alone!!!!!

"What do I do????"

After seeking their advice Lucy very quickly received a flurry of responses from followers keen to help her get rid of the unwanted attention.

Many of her wise fans suggested that she should block the number immediately to cut any opportunity for further contact.

Others then encouraged her to report the unsolicited communications to the police.

One wrote: "Many actors have been stalked recently, I would go straight to the police so at least they have a first lodged complaint and a number noted!"

While another joked that she should give them a taste of their own medicine posting: "Tweet the number for all your fans to contact them! See how they like it when the shoe’s on the other foot."

Earlier this year Lucy fell victim to another problem involving her contact details when she received a scam call and posted online urging her fans to be careful not to get duped.

At the time she tweeted: "Just had a scam call involving an automated message informing me that my NI number was going to be suspended due to criminal activities!!

"Didn’t follow the instructions, please be aware of these scam calls, apparently, there are so many at the moment."

Lucy wasn't the only one who was hit with a scam call, with lockdown seeing more and more people fall victim to the scheme.

She shared her experience to urge fans to be aware and proceed with caution regarding anything that feels somewhat questionable.
