Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood met for the first time in the 1990s, while Trisha was working for Garth’s record company MTM. They quickly worked together and Garth has since said he felt he had ‘met his wife’ when he saw Trisha, despite already being married. After a long friendship, they split from their partners and tied the knot, and have been together ever since.

How long have Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood been together?

Garth and Trisha have been in a relationship since the early 2000s and were first captured holding hands in 2002.

Garth broke up with his first wife, Sandy Mahl, in 2001 after a short separation, while Trisha and her second husband Bobby Reynolds divorced in 1999.

Trisha and Garth eventually married on December 10, 2005, at their home in Oklahoma, in a ceremony which involved Garth’s three children.

This came after a romantic proposal in 2005 when Garth followed in the footsteps of country singer Johnny Cash and proposed on stage in California in front of 7,000 fans.

Back in 2018, the couple’s method of spending time together and keeping the fire going was pretty simple.

Trisha told US Weekly: “We do date nights, but, honestly, we are apart maybe five days a year.

“We really have made a conscious effort since getting married to not be apart, so we’ve toured together.

“If I’m doing something, he’ll be with me, even if you don’t see him, he’ll be in the hotel or around.

“And we’re not always together, but we’ve been married before, and we decided we don’t want to be apart.

“So [we said] let’s make an effort to make sure that’s our priority and we’ve been able to do it.”

For Garth, things have been a little different in lockdown, especially as they have been faced with coronavirus diagnoses in the family.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Garth said: “The Queen and I have now tested twice. Officially, she’s diagnosed as ‘on her way out of the tunnel’ now, though, which I’m extremely thankful for.”

“She got real impatient, really kind of mean and sassy. And I thought, ‘Well, she’s back to herself.'”

Garth’s daughter Allie also tested positive for the virus, which meant the whole family had to quarantine.

Speaking further about their relationship to Ellen DeGeneres’s stand-in Stephen, Garth said: “I thought since we’re here, and we ain’t got nowhere to go, let’s just attack some of the hardest things over the 15 years that bugs one of us, right?

“And it was like living in a little house to which it was like, you couldn’t go anywhere.

“So you couldn’t walk away from the conversation. And I thought it was great.

“I think we came out on the other end even closer and tighter than we were when we went in.”

At this point, Trisha joined the conversation, given Garth was doing the interview remotely from their shared home.

She added: “I heard what he said — I did try to get away from him, some of those conversations.

“Because if Garth starts a conversation with, ‘Hey, I don’t want to offend you but…’ It’s like, I can’t wait to see what’s coming.

“And it’s good. If you can talk about the hard stuff, it’s good.

“And we’re in this for the long haul. So you’re stuck with me.”
