Geordie Shore’s Natalie takes subtle swipe at A-listers as they go head-to-head

Geordie Shore's Natalie Phillips shares fighting talk as she goes up against Lewis Hamilton and Marcus Rashford at the National Diversity Awards.

The reality TV star, 33, is up for the Celebrity of the Year award against some big names but believes she has done "more" than the others and deserves the win.

When talking about her nomination, she told the Daily Star: "When I heard the news I was shortlisted and saw all of the other names such as Lewis Hamilton, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling – I nearly keeled over.

"I'm just a small-town kid from Consett, a town outside of Newcastle.

"I finished Geordie Shore years and a bit ago. I never really pushed being a big name. I've just pushed on with my charities."

Natalie continued: "Whether I win or not. to even be set by those names for me was massive.

"Ashley Banjo is a lovely bloke and I speak to him regularly but I never thought my name would be next to theirs."

Since leaving the MTV show, the star has been incredibly busy racking up charity work and taking part in multiple mountain climbs.

Over the past few years, she has worked with charities such as Centre Point, Get Fit for Mental Wellness and Joe’s Giants, as well as being an ambassador for both Lyla and Lilley’s Stars and Amp Camp Kids.

In October 2021, Natalie climbed Mount Snowdon using “just one leg”, to raise awareness for Amp Camp Kids, a charity for amputee children.

Talking further about her competition, she also chimed in to add: "What I will say and this may sound a little bit bitchy but if you read the bios on the nominations, I am the only one who has gone out and physically done something.

"I went out and climbed Mount Snowdon I did it one-legged for amputee children. I strapped my leg up and climbed it for charity, so I have physically done a lot.

"They haven't actually physically done anything.

"If it was down to that I would be up there with the winners – but I don't know if that's how it's going to be judged."

The Geordie star concluded: "I just want people to know what all the charities are all about and I'd love for more people to want to chip in and help the charities.

"When you think about it and you realise why I do it, with all of the amazing kids, it couldn't not motivate you.

Natalie also added how she couldn't have gotten to where she is without her doting girlfriend, Mariella Rigali, 21, who has also helped the star raise money for charity.
