GMB’s Ben Shephard hints at future Strictly stint despite wife’s brutal show ban

He's famed for fronting ITV's Good Morning Britain and grilling quizzers as the host of Tipping Point.

But ITV golden boy Ben Shephard has just revealed he could star on Strictly Come Dancing in the future – despite his wife banning him from doing so.

The daytime TV star hinted he could soon be ditching his GMB desk for the BBC ballroom during a chat with Daily Star's Sam Huntley at the Pride of Britain Awards in London.

He'd be following in the footsteps of his GMB colleagues like Susanna Reid, who finished runner-up in 2013, and Ranvir Singh in 2020.

Asked if he'd ever do the show, Ben revealed he gets asked about the show all the time before replying: "I'll never say never."

He went on to explain his horror leg injury could leave him unable to participate in the show, adding: "I've got an ACL injury so I don't know after the ACL."

Ben was hospitalised after fracturing his leg and rupturing his ACL while playing football.

Things were so bad that he had to go in for surgery back in June 2021, but it seems he's on the mend as he's been undergoing physio and documenting his recovery.

It comes after Ben revealed his wife Annie doesn't want him to join Strictly during a chat with Andi Peters on GMB earlier this year.

Ben said: "As you know, I spent three years in university learning to dance, I have a degree in dance – it doesn't make me a good dancer, obviously.

"But my wife really doesn't want me to do Strictly, I've spoken about it very publicly, but she's not interested in me having an affair."

He cheekily added: "I think she's being very narrow-minded and it could be a great opportunity, who knows what could happen?

"It would be an amazing experience, I love a bit of spangle and glamour on a Saturday night… As things stand though, that's a negotiation that needs to happen between the BBC and my wife."
