Holly Willoughby left in tears after co-worker aimed cruel comment at her

This Morning star Holly Willoughby has admitted she broke down in tears after a co-worker aimed a disrespectful comment at her just minutes before going on-stage at a live event.

Holly, 40, discussed the incident, which left anger "pulsating through [her] body", in her new autobiography Reflections.

In a snippet acquired by The Sun, Holly wrote that she was just minutes away from heading onto the stage at an undisclosed event, when a colleague – who she refused to name – criticised her.

Along with the critique, the unspecified person said they would be there to “save her” if Holly messed up on-stage.

Holly wrote of the incident: "When they left the room, I cried. I shouted.

"I called that person every name under the sun and I could feel my anger pulsating through my body."

The TV personality added that she felt the person wouldn’t have made similar comments to a male co-worker.

And that wasn’t the only time Holly experienced sexism in the workplace, as she also recalled a moment she was upskirted by a paparazzo during her campaign for the #TimesUp movement.

The Hollywood-backed campaign battled sexual harassment alongside the #MeToo movement – and Holly headed to the 2018 Brit Awards clutching a white rose to represent the campaign.

Holly tweeted at the time: "At the beginning of the night, we held white roses and walked down a red carpet full of the hope and pride that comes with the #TimesUp campaign.

"At the end of the night, cameras were held low to get a photo up our skirts… time’s apparently up on #TimesUp."

In her book, Holly also describes a moment she was fat-shamed by a modelling agency aged just 17, explaining that after a shoot, "I spoke to my London agency to see what [they’d] said, and the comment I got back was, ‘We’ll put her weight down to healthy eating while travelling.

"I just thought, wow. I could look in the mirror and see what I was – seventeen and tiny. So to hear a comment like that was a complete and utter shock."

Holly then decided to call it quits on the "brutal" and "ugly" modelling industry, which she said she’d originally mistaken for “the most beautiful place”.

Holly instead went on to land a job on S Club TV before going on to star in shows like I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Dancing On Ice and This Morning.

She’s now worth around a whopping £10million.

In her personal life, Holly is happily married to her former co-star Dan Baldwin – and shares three children with him, Harry, 12, Belle, 10, and Chester, seven.
