BTS spoke to today’s youth in their UN address
Leading up to the UN General Assembly, BTS asked young people around the world on social media to submit stories about what the past two years have been like. At the SDG Moment, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook shared the stories that were submitted.
During the speech, the band members brought up the sense of mourning and dread youth feel about climate change and the coronavirus. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook also challenged the idea that the young generation is known as “the lost generation.”
“I think that’s why instead of the ‘lost generation,’ a more appropriate name would be the ‘welcome generation,’” Jin said. “Because instead of fearing change, this generation says ‘Welcome!’ and keeps forging ahead.”
The members then encouraged younger generations to come together and make healthy choices so there can be a future to look forward to. BTS also shared their hopes to one day be reunited with fans in person and that there will be positive change going forward.
