Inside Bradley Walshs £2.5m home – humble beginnings to lavish Essex mansion

He is arguably one of the most famous faces on TV screens, making his millions on Coronation Street, The Chase and even Doctor Who.

And in recent days, it has been reported that Bradley Walsh could be a "serious contender" to replace Phillip Schofield on the This Morning sofa.

But what fans may not know is that ITV favourite comes from humble beginnings and previously worked a number of part-time jobs before he landed a role on TV.

As The Chase host celebrates his 63rd birthday with a bang, Daily Star has taken a deep dive inside his lavish home which he shares with his doting wife and two kids.

Before he became a household name, the TV host worked as an apprentice at Rolls-Royce's aircraft factory at the age of 16 before he moved into the world of showbiz in 1982 as a stand-up comic.

It wasn’t until 1997 that the national treasure found his big break when he presented a game show called Midas Touch.

Since then, he has won over the nation with his cheeky sense of humour and brilliant presenting skills, working on the UK’s edition of Wheel of Fortune following Nicky Campbell’s departure.

But that wasn’t enough for the dad-of-two who went on to dip his toe in the acting role, starring in shows such as Channel 4’s Lock, Stock … and ITV soap Night and Day.

Another big break came for him when he landed a role on Coronation Street as Danny Baldwin in May 2004 which he held for two years before he was written out of the show.

In 2009, he took on his most notable role as the presenter for The Chase, cementing himself in the UK Hall of Fame.

Stepping away from his colourful TV career, the Breaking Dad star now lives in a £2.5million barn conversion in the heart of Epping, Essex with his doting wife Donna Derby and their son Barney.

Their lavish property boasts five bedrooms and a spacious garden which is located just a stone’s throw from the bustling city of London.

It is also said to feature a sauna, a gym and an outdoor swimming pool making it the perfect place to entertain guests.

Epping is a market town and a civil parish in the Epping Forest district of the county of Essex, and its proximity to the capital makes it popular with commuters.

The town is at the end of the Central Line, which can take residents into the Big Smoke within minutes, located just 17 miles away from the city.

While the TV presenter tends to keep his personal life private, he has previously given fans a sneak peek inside his luxury home.

Taking to Instagram, the proud entertainer shared a humble video thanking his supporters after he was nominated for an award which he filmed inside his sleek kitchen.

The comedian shared a glimpse at his spacious kitchen at the heart of his home which featured crisp white walls and a glass railing which could be seen near a mezzanine kitchen.

The eatery appeared to feature a glamorous white island which was surrounded by black leather stools alongside chrome accessories and decorated with flowers.

During an appearance on This Morning during the global lockdown, the doting dad shared the screen with his son Barney where they discussed their upcoming series Breaking Dad.

The pair could be seen inside his man cave where they sat on a pair of beige armchairs which were huddled in the corner of his cluttered shed, which also featured a drum kit and a Christmas reindeer in the background.

Like many of us, Bradley used the shed to store everything from gardening tools to old tins of paint and the annual Christmas decorations.

But viewers could also see some of his stolen artefacts taken throughout his TV career such as a poster advertising one of his live shows at the London Palladium hanging on the wall.

Fans got another peek inside the property when Brad joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show via zoom to celebrate his 60th birthday.

The quiz show host was surrounded by white walls and three wooden doors leading to other spacious rooms of their house.

A pine bookcase was situated on the wall behind him which housed a selection of framed photos and ornaments.

It’s fair to say his Essex home is world’s away from his Watford beginnings, which he previously opened up about to The Telegraph.

He told the outlet: “I was born in Watford and grew up in a council house. My mother was a single parent who had to struggle hard to make ends meet.

“At one point she was holding down three different jobs. It was a happy childhood, but we certainly didn’t have a great deal of money.”

In 2021, the TV presenter reportedly forked out nearly half a million pounds on a stretch of land which has a gold club on one side and the M25 on the other, located close to his Epping mansion.

He was said to have splashed out approximately £400k on the plot of land which is estimated to stretch across 44 acres.

It is unclear what the star has in mind for the land, but a bulldozer was spotted on the land last year, accompanied by a lorry unloading clay earth just weeks after his purchase.
