James Bond star Jack Hedley has sadly passed away aged 92.
The actor, who appeared in For Your Eyes Only, died on December 11, according to a notice published in The Times on Wednesday.
It read that said the movie star, who was born Jack Hawkins, died after a "short illness bravely borne".
The notice added: "At his request there will be no funeral. He will be much missed by his family and friends."
Fans have since paid tribute to the actor following the shock news.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "RIP Jack Hedley."
Another added: "Sad to hear of the passing of Jack Hedley at the age of 92. Jack played Sir Timothy Havelock in 1981’s For Your Eyes Only amongst many other roles. RIP."
A third person posted: "RIP Jack Hedley. A very fine actor."
While a fourth social media user said: "RIP Jack Hedley, who somehow managed to make a Bond movie, and the most notorious Lucio Fulci movie in the same year."
Jack was born in London in 1930 and started appearing in films in the 1950s.
His birth name was Jack Hawkins but is is thought that he changed his name to avoid confusion with his namesake.
The actor appeared in 99 credits in his career which spanned over five decades as well as numerous appearances in theatre.
He also starred in BBC series The World of Tim Frazer and went on to feature in a number of films including Lawrence of Arabia, The Scarlet Blade, Witchcraft and The Secret of Blood Island.
His best-known role was in the 1981 Bond film, For Your Eyes Only.
He played Carole Bouquet’s father Sir Timothy Havelock, who is murdered by a Cuban hitman while attempting to locate a shipwreck for the British Secret Service.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Jack was a familiar face on British television with guest appearances in shows including Only Fools and Horses, “Allo ‘Allo, Dalziel and Pascoe and Space Precinct.
Although the star also had a lead part as a burned out police detective in Lucio Fulci’s horror film The New York Ripper.
Jack's last on-screen appearance was as a priest in Italian limited series St. Paul.
