Jeremy Clarkson aired his controversial opinions about the UK government after he picked up his first award at the British Farming Awards following his Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm.
The former Top Gear host took home the Flying the Flag for British Agriculture award on Thursday night at the annual awards ceremony held at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.
After he thanked his doting employees including fan-favourite Kaleb Cooper when he stepped up to the podium to accept his trophy, he vocalised his concerns about the government’s recent treatment of agricultural workers.
In a now viral clip shared by Save British Farming on Twitter, the dad-of-three confirmed the farming show would return for a second series after the surprising support from viewers online.
Before he took home the award, he admitted: “I just hope and pray we’re all still here in 10 years' time once this f***ing government has c***ed up absolutely everything."
The approving crowd soon cheered the first-time farmer on his pointed words, as he continued: “We are doing a second series and we’re not going to take no nonsense lying down, I can assure you of that, so let’s just go f**k them up the a**, eh? Thanks everybody.”
And this wasn’t the only award the farmer was given for speaking out for the agricultural community, as earlier this month The Grand Tour star was named the National Farmers’ Union’s (NFU) Farming Champion 2021.
His loyal legion of fans soon took to Twitter to share their thoughts about his controversially political acceptance speech.
One user confessed: “Hell has frozen over. I agree with Jeremy Clarkson. *calls ambulance*."
Another fan added: “Mr Jeremy Clarkson saying what we are all thinking about this government! Good one Jezza! @JeremyClarkson,” with a thumbs up emoji.
A third chimed in with: “Can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of Clarkson but after watching the farm and seeing some humility he won me over, now this.
“Be interesting to see how a lot of his fanbase react to his new attitude,” they added.
But this isn’t the first time the car fanatic has been critical of the government’s political choices, after he urged ministers to “back off” UK farmers by making them “fill in fewer forms” last month.
Jeremy backed the NFU Back British Farming Day in September, which campaigned for the UK’s food self-sufficiency to not slip below 60%.
