Johnny Depp doesn’t look Amber Heard in the eye after making bleak vow

Johnny Depp has apparently avoided looking at his ex Amber Heard during their court case because he once vowed she would never see his eyes again.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, 58, is suing his former wife after she said in a piece in The Washington Post that she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Amber, who did not mention the A-lister by name in the 2018 article, is counter-suing.

As the case rumbled on this week, Amber was quizzed about her former husband not making eye contact with her.

Johnny's attorney Camille Vasquez mentioned that the actor had not looked at Amber, even though she had looked at him, and said the actress knew why.

"You know exactly why Mr Depp won't look back at you, don't you?" the lawyer asked.

And Amber, 36, agreed: "I do."

Vasquez then asked: "He promised you would never see his eyes again, isn't that true?"

The star said she didn't recall.

But a tape of the former couple rowing in a hotel room in San Francisco in 2016 was then played, and Johnny could be heard saying just that.

Aquaman star Amber was heard saying she wanted to hug Johnny and say goodbye to him.

But the Edward Scissorhands star replied: "I am nothing to you, and I will always be nothing to you."

"You will not see my eyes again," he told the actress.

Johnny and Amber started dating after they met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary, in which they co-starred.

The pair went on to tie the knot in 2015 but their romance soon hit the rocks, with Amber filing for divorce the following year.

Last year, Amber became a mum when she welcomed her daughter Oonagh.

Announcing her happy news on Instagram, she said Oonagh was "the beginning of the rest of my life".

The trial continues.
