Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper took an "unexpected and frightening turn for the worse", the Good Morning Britain host has said.
Kate was forced to put her work commitments on hold to take care of her ailing partner, who has been suffering from Covid-19 aftereffects since 2020.
Derek was in a coma for around a year after being struck down by the virus, and could only return home once Kate had made adjustments to the family home to allow his wheelchair access.

In her latest update, she explained that Derek had returned to the intensive care unit.
Kate told fans: "Thank you so so much for all your messages of support – they really do mean the world to me & the whole family.
"I have taken some time off @gmb, @smoothradio & @garrawaysgoodatuff in the last 3 weeks as Derek’s health took an unexpected & frightening turn for the worse that landed him back in intensive care & fighting for his life – again."
Thankfully, Kate had some better news to share, as she told her fans: "Thanks to the amazing NHS teams & his own extraordinary life force & spirit Derek – please god – is back on the right side of it now and I'm so looking forward to seeing you all back on @gmb from 6 a.m tomorrow & @smoothradio – hopefully celebrating @lionesses #worldcup win!"
She added: "Love & see you in the morning!"
A source had told The Sun at the time of Kate's extended leave from Good Morning Britain: "Kate is by his side and is keeping it together as best she can.
"She’s a total professional and devoted to her work – both on Good Morning Britain and Smooth – but she had no choice but to step away this week to be there with him."
Kate’s fans and friends rushed to comment on her latest post, with TV personality Lizzie Cundy writing: “Thinking of you all so much. Love you Kate.”
Denise Welch added a row of praying and strength emojis, while someone else posted: “So hope you have the old Derek back soon you so deserve it, amazing lady.”
And another follower added: “So glad to hear he’s better. Sending you lots of love and prayers.”
Derek became the country's longest suffering Covid patient following a 13-month stint in hospital. In April 2021 he went back home to live with Kate and their two children, 16-year-old Darcey and 12-year-old Billy.
He was receiving around the clock care, while hospital visits have left Kate feeling "exhausted and very fretful".
Kate added that she knows he needs specialist, 24-7 care.
