Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were probably one of the most influential couples before divorcing after almost seven years of marriage.
Reality TV star Kim and rapper Kanye, who now goes by Ye, began dating in 2012 while Kim was still legally married to her second husband Kris Humphries.
The couple got engaged on Kim's 33rd birthday in 2013 and married a year later in beautiful Florence, Italy.
The ceremony at Forte di Belvedere, which cost millions, was attended by celebrities and fashion designers as well as by the couple's family and friends.
Over the years, their marriage weathered many storms and faced countless scandals and family emergencies, including a gunpoint robbery in Paris.
However, in February 2021, Kim officially filed for divorce and their relationship turned sour.
Since then, Ye has been accused of harassing Kim, publicly lashed out at her current partner, leaked private conversations on social media and even accused Kim of kidnapping their daughter.
Below we take a look at their six-year marriage from "I do" to a very public divorce.
Cute proposal
For his surprise proposal to Kim in 2013, Ye rented out the San Francisco's AT&T baseball stadium.
Kim initially thought this was to celebrate her 33rd birthday but the rapper got down on one knee instead.
Her family and friends waited with bated breath under a sign that read "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEEE!!!".
Fireworks went off after Kim said yes and a 50-piece orchestra played Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful and Keri Hilson's Knock You Down, the latter featuring the guest verse by Ye: "They say I move too quick but we can't let this moment pass us. Let the hourglass pass right into ashes / Let the wind blow the ash right before my glasses / So I wrote this love letter right before my classes."
Taking to social media to share the big news with her fans, she posted a photograph of her engagement ring with the caption: "YES!!!"
The ring, designed by Lorraine Schwartz, was one of three Ye had commissioned ahead of the proposal and was valued at around £1.5million.
Expensive wedding
Much in style with the proposal, no expenses were spared for the couple's lavish wedding at Forte di Belvedere in Florence on May 24 in 2014.
A glowing bride, Kim wore a bespoke couture wedding dress designed by Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy which reportedly cost around £318,500.
In total, the couple were said to have splashed out a cool £10m on the wedding which included hotels, private jets and a 7ft vanilla and berry cake.
Renting the 16th century venue alone set them back £240,000, making the event cost around £2.2m in total.
Opera star Andrea Bocelli, who charges £108,200 to over £1m, sang while Kim walked down the aisle.
Among the 200-strong guest list were actor Jaden Smith, singer John Legend and model wife Chrissy Teigen and rapper Tyga.
The evening before their nuptials, Kim and Ye hosted a rehearsal dinner for around 600 guests in the Palace of Versailles' Hall of Mirrors.
Baby troubles
The mum-of-four has previously spoken of the difficulties she experienced during childbirth, saying she had to undergo multiple surgeries.
While giving birth, her placenta got "stuck" and she recalled how a doctor had to "stick his whole arm in me" to remove it.
She also had a difficult time delivering her second baby Saint, suffering from placenta accreta after delivery.
The rare condition occurs when the placenta attaches too deep into the uterine wall and is life-threatening because it can lead to extreme blood loss during delivery.
Concerned doctors advised Kim against having any more children so her third and fourth child were born via surrogacy.
Family drama
Ye and Kim's mum often didn't see eye to eye during the couple's relationship with Ye often publicly lashing out at Kris Jenner.
On one occasion, Ye referred to his mother-in-law as "Kris Jong Un", in a reference to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, while also comparing his life to the seminal Jordan Peele horror film Get Out and accusing Kris of being a white supremacist.
On Twitter, Ye shared a screenshot of his texts with Kris, showing that she had snubbed his previous message which said: "This is Ye. You ready to talk now or are still avoiding my calls."
After being ignored again, he followed up with: "This is Ye. You wanna talk? Or go to war?"
Despite his behaviour, family friends said Kris is one of the few people in the family who still has a relationship with the rapper and would speak to him when no one else would.
Public divorce
Rumours that the couple's relationship was in trouble started to circulate in January 2021.
A month later, on February 19, Kim officially filed for divorce after almost seven years of marriage.
They agreed to joint custody of their four children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
During an interview with Vogue she said: “For so long, I did what made other people happy.
"I think in the last two years I decided I’m going to make myself happy – and that feels really good."
She added: "Even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s OK to choose you."
Their divorce was, however, anything but amicable with Ye claiming she was keeping their kids from seeing him and putting their daughter North on TikTok without his permission.
Kim said in a statement Ye's "constant attacks" were "hurtful".
She wrote: "Kanye's obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all."
Kanye's short-lived 'muse'
Despite the divorce, Ye continued to say he wanted his "family back" and was accused of harassing Kim and her new partner Pete Davidson.
Earlier this year, actress Julia Fox confirmed she and Ye were dating after meeting on New Year's Eve in Miami.
According to Julia, Ye got her phone number off a friend and the couple began regularly seeing each other.
However, by February 2022, they had reportedly broken up.
Kim moves on
Despite the heartache and failed marriages, Kim recently revealed she would be ready to tie the knot again.
While she did not explicitly mention her current boyfriend, actor and comedian Pete Davidson, she said she was optimistic about the future.
In a teaser for a recent episode of The Kardashians, she said: "I believe in love. That’s why, hopefully, there will be just one more wedding for me. Fourth time’s the charm!"
