On September 19, 2008 drummer Travis boarded a private jet in South Carolina which was heading to Los Angeles after a show.
The musician was also accompanied by his friend Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein, his security guard Charles 'Che' Still, and his assistant Chris Baker.
But as the small air craft attempted to take off, one of its tires suffered a blow out which caused the plane to overshoot while on the runway.
The small plane then burst through the airport's fence and ran straight through to a nearby highway. The aircraft then crashed into the embankment on the side of the road.
Travis and Adam were the only members alive from the fatal impact.
According to reports by the Chicago Tribune, pilot, Sarah Lemmon, and the co-pilot, James Bland, were killed within minutes due to smoke inhalation and burns as the plane erupted into flames.
Travis suffered with with third-degree burns over 65 percent of his body.
Following on from the accident, the Blink-182 band member had to spend three months in hospital while undergoing skin grafts and 26 separate surgeries to repair the damage.
Talking to E! News, a source said: "Travis took his time and definitely seemed a little bit nervous. Kourtney was very supportive and helped him every step of the way. She made him feel comfortable on Kylie's plane with pilots they know and the large size of the plane."
