Hollywood icon Kurt Russell is 71 years old today (March 17).
The beloved actor was born on March 17, 1951 and has since become the star of blockbuster films throughout the decades including Escape From New York, The Thing and Tango & Cash.
As famous as his career however is his relationship with Hollywood starlet Goldie Hawn, who he starred alongside in hit comedies including Overboard.
Together, they have become one of the world's golden couples and have regularly gushed over one another during interviews.
To celebrate Kurt Russell's birthday, Daily Star takes a look inside his love life, including his decades long relationship with Goldie Hawn and their famous kids.
Co-star ex
One of the first actors to play the King of Rock 'n' Roll on the big screen was none other than Kurt Russell, in the 1979 biopic film.
Along with gaining critical acclaim for the role, he also found romance on set with actress Season Hubley, who played on-screen wife Priscilla Presley in the film.
The couple married in 1979 too, and one year later, welcomed their son Boston Oliver Russell.
However, their marriage only lasted four years and the couple parted ways in 1983.
Season has since continued her acting career, appearing as Starksy's fiance in iconic TV series Starsky and Hutch, as well as in Beverley Hills 90210.
She was also married to David Hayball from 1992-1994.
Goldie Hawn romance
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are one of the world's most famous couples, with a relationship that has lasted decades.
The lovebirds met on the set of 1966 film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, when Goldie was 21 years old and Kurt was 16.
They parted ways as friends, but their romance finally blossomed when they were reunited on the set of 1983 film Swing Shift.
Kurt recalled being impressed with Goldie as soon as he saw her on the set of Swing Shift, telling People Magazine that he was: "impressed with Goldie visually…the images of her were alluring and attractive, so all those things were taking place.
"But then you get to know somebody and you begin to find that, yeah, you do share things in common deeply. Hey, listen, it goes where it goes."
However, Kurt and Goldie parted ways as friends, with Kurt going on to marry Season Hubley and Goldie marrying Bill Hudson from 1976-1982 , with who she had Oliver and Kate Hudson.
The couple's romance blossomed and they went official on Valentines Day 1983 after going on a date to a party at the Playboy Club, with Kurt telling TV show Live With Kelly and Ryan: "Two hours later, we were still talking — we hadn’t danced at all. I was living at my brother-in-law’s house, and she had this home that was being remodeled, so we went there."
As they say, the rest is history, and they have become one of Hollywood's most enduring couples.
They have even reunited together on screen in films such as 1987 Overboard and most recently Netflix' Hit Christmas Chronicles film series, which saw Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn play Mr and Mrs Claus.
Talking about playing Mrs Claus and Kurt's input into shaping the character for the second film, Goldie told People Magazine: "I was excited about playing her. She hadn't been really defined yet really as a character. She's always been in the background, making cookies.
"And now it's a new world, right? And they gave Mrs. Claus magic, and Kurt was a big part of that as well, of designing the character."
In 2017, the golden couple were also honoured together with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Although Kurt does not use social media, Goldie regularly gushes over her partner on Instagram, posting one sweet snap of the couple sharing a kiss by the lakeside for Kurt's birthday in 2021.
She captioned the post: "Happy birthday, baby! What a wild ride. No we never got married, but one thing that continues to grow is our love.
"You’re a wild one, brilliant, lovable, childlike, perfectly maddening, a father supreme and deeply funny! You’re the catch … and you’re all mine."
Marriage revelation
Although they are one of Hollywood's golden couples, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have never gotten married – despite being a couple for over 39 years.
Earlier this year Goldie appeared on Loose Women and made a sweet revelation about why they have not gotten married, explaining: "I would have been long divorced if I’d been married. Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it's important to be married.
"If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there’s something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other."
She added: "For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice."
Reflecting on the idea of marriage in an interview with People magazine, Kurt added that marrying was not going to add anything extra to their already long lasting relationship, saying: "For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have.
"I don’t know. 40 years isn’t enough to finally say, 'Well I guess…"
Famous kids
Both Kurt and Goldie have children from their previous marriages, Boston Russell and Oliver and Kate Hudson, as well as their son Wyatt Russell, who was born in 1986.
All four children have pursued careers of their own in Hollywood, with Boston Russell reported to be a film production assistant.
Meanwhile, Oliver Hudson is an actor, famous for starring in TV series such as Rules Of Engagement, Scream Queens and Nashville.
Meanwhile, youngest son Wyatt Russell was an ice hockey player, before pursuing a Hollywood career in TV series such as Marvel's Falcon And The Winter Soldier and films such as 22 Jump Street.
Like her siblings and parents, Kate Hudson has also become a huge Hollywood star, appearing in films such as Bride Wars, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Almost Famous.
Kate also posted a sweet tribute to Kurt Russell on Fathers Day, with the actress reported to have always seen him as her father.
The actress posted a photograph on Instagram of her hugging Kurt, with the sweet caption: "Our great loyal protector. Our dependable authentic captain. Our wild, sometimes untamed adventurer father!
"From skiing out of helicopters, flying in open cockpit planes, dirt bikes, bareback horse riding, motorcycle rides, boat racing…a childhood and adulthood of adventure.
"Our Pa always makes life fun. Always down for exploring, always ready to take on the good life with his family. He’s one hell of a Dad. Lucky us. Happy Fathers Day Pa I love you so much."
Kurt also revealed in an interview with Daily Mail that he would ensure that he was not filming at the same time as Goldie, to ensure that they both got to spend quality time together – and also that their children had their parents around.
He said: "I very rarely worked when I knew Goldie was going to be working. And vice-versa. Which meant we could be together. I never thought that what the business could provide would ever take precedence over us.
"Money is great, but you’ve got to say no. You really do."
"Everyone has their marker on what is really important and where you draw the line," added Kurt.
"For Goldie and me, that core value was this: the kids come first … Kate was a very sparky personality, a fun girl, great. But when you’re a teenager you need Dad to be there, to say you’re going to be home at 11:30.
"I think as a parent you have to be an obstacle at times, so they can learn to get around you. If they learn to get around you, they can get around most troubles."
