Prince Andrew was forced to take a step back from royal duties after his reported friendship with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light.

TV presenter Lizzie has crossly said that “there is a time and a place for free speech”.

She went on: “Anyone that is heckled by a coffin, let alone Her Majesty's, needs to be dealt with.

“It may have looked a bit heavy-handed but I think anyone heckling around the Queen's coffin should be dealt with.

"I know a lot of people feel that way about Andrew, but there's a time and a place and that wasn't it.”

The 54-year-old added to the Daily Express: "I know they are the Royal Family but they're still a family grieving.

Lizzie also pointed out that the royal family has been tirelessly undertaking public obligatiions since the Queen died on September 8 but still have to "grieve in public".

Footage showed the man, 22, shouting at Prince Andrew as he followed the coffin up Edinburgh's Royal Mile, just before 3pm on Monday.

The man was pulled out of the queue by two bystanders and was later arrested and charged.

He was released and will appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "He was released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Meanwhile, it is reported that mourners will have to queue for up to 30 hours for the chance to pay their respects to the Queen as she lies in state at Westminster Hall.

She will lie in state from 5pm today (Wednesday) until 6.30am on Monday 19, the day of her funeral.

The mammoth queue currently starts at Albert Embankment and snakes behind the London Eye before following the route of the South Bank, past the National Theatre, Tate Modern and HMS Belfast near London Bridge.

A reported 1,500 soldiers and 10,000 police officers have been deployed to help deal with the gargantuan crowds.
