Loose Women panellist Brenda Edwards has revealed her son Jamal Edwards died after a "sudden illness".
The star has said she is "completely devastated" following the sudden death of her son.
The TV personality and former X Factor star paid an emotional tribute to the 31-year-old who was the founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV.
On Monday morning's Good Morning Britain, presenter Susanna Reid read a statement from Brenda which said: "It is with deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.
"Myself, his sister and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world."
The TV personality also went on to thank those who have shared their love and support through her turbulent time.
Susanna continued to read: "As we come to terms with the passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss.
"I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.
"Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA and PHD."
ITV's North American correspondent Noel Phillips also shared his thoughts on the tragic news while on GMB.
He said: "He was a pioneering figure in Black British culture and music in particular and hip hop, a trailblazer in fact."
"This is a man who came up in a musical household and used that passion for music to give artists and so many young people a platform which they never had.
"And let’s not forget, these are artists who would never get played on mainstream radio, but Jamal launched SBTV."
Jamal first rose to fame when he created the YouTube channel SBTV, which helped to launch the careers of several UK artists including the likes of Dave and Jessie J.
The music icon was also an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, a charity which is headed by the Prince of Wales.
In 2014, Jamal was awarded an MBE for his services to music.
Several tributes have flooded in for the star overnight including Brenda's Loose Women co-star Denise Welch who wrote a touching message online.
Denise said: "My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother."
Charlene White also shared her thoughts and penned: "Your light shone so brightly that it touched so many of us, impacted the lives of many more, and changed the game forever.
"And, you are my Brenda’s son. There are no words to describe her heartbreak, our heartbreak, now that your light has gone. Sometimes life is terribly unfair."
