Love Islands Gemma Owen announces return to old job despite catapulting to fame

Love Island's Gemma Owen has announced a return to her former equestrian job despite catapulting to fame on the ITV2 dating-reality show in the summer.

The 19-year-old daughter of Michael Owen recently held a Q&A session on her Instagram where she revealed what she plans to do, career-wise, now she's eased herself back into normal life.

One fan asked the brunette beauty, who coupled up with Luca Bish on the dating show, whether or not she planned on going back to her day job of dressage.

And despite singing a bumper fashion deal with PrettyLittleThing, Gemma has plans to move back into her first love.

Speaking to the camera for a video response, Gemma replied: "The short answer is yes, I’m definitely going to be carrying on competing.

"At the moment things are obviously still up in the air so I can’t wait to get back into a normal routine but it’s something I’ve been training in forever so I’m not going to stop."

Gemma's love of horses has been no secret, with the gorgeous TV star owning stables at the £4million family home in which she resides.

The stunning star lives at home in Cheshire with her dad Michael, mum Louise, 16-year-old brother James, 14-year-old sister Emily and 12-year-old sister Jessica.

Ahead of her Love Island appearance, Gemma gave fans a glimpse inside her career when she said: "I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old.

"I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive."

Since leaving the villa Gemma has been seen reunited with her horses, with beau Luca Bish even getting to watch her and snap some photos.

Elsewhere in the Q&A Gemma revealed that she'd like to "scale up" her swimwear business – OG Beachwear.

She explained: "I’d love to scale up my business and maybe get some help and an investor, and with this side of things look at TV opportunities, continue working with brands and just grow."

Love Island is set to return to our screens for the winter series in early 2023.
