The Nightmare Before Christmas earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. Fans even learned more about the stop-motion animation technology thanks to the Disney+ original series, Prop Culture.
The movie’s soundtrack, made available on music platforms like Spotify, earns millions of streams. The song “Making Christmas” currently holds over 7 million Spotify plays. There’s also one cover of this song that holds millions of plays. That’s the rendition created by the Grammy award-winning a capella group, Pentatonix.
Pentatonix covered ‘Making Christmas’ from Tim Burton’s ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’
Whether they’re performing their Daft Punk medley or “The Sound of Silence,” Pentatonix is known for its unique and imaginative covers. When the group released their 2018 album, Christmas Is Here, they included a remake of one The Nightmare Before Christmas song.
That’s “Making Christmas.” Published in 2018, the Pentatonix version of “Making Christmas” currently holds over 6 million plays on Spotify. Their music video for the song, posted to YouTube, has almost 10 million views.
Additionally, Pentatonix partnered with the Walt Disney Company to perform in their ionic theme parks. They performed their version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” for a couple and their marriage ceremony during Disney’s Fairytale Weddings.
For the Walt Disney World 2019 “Disney Parks Parade,” the a capella group performed “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” from Hollywood Studios. During Disneyland’s 60 Anniversary celebration in conjunction with The Wonderful World of Disney, Pentatonix performed Beauty and the Beast song “Be Our Guest.”
Other holiday songs featured on Pentatonix’s Christmas Is Here include “Grown-Up Christmas List” featuring Kelly Clarkson and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”
Pentatonix is releasing another Christmas album, ‘Evergreen,’ during 2021
It’s been a long, long time since Pentatonix embarked on a holiday tour. In 2021, this group announced their upcoming Christmas album, Evergreen, and corresponding United States-based tour. It’s unclear if this album will feature other songs from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
As the release date approaches, though, fans learned more about this upcoming release. Evergreen features 14 new holiday tracks, including the recently released single, “It’s Been A Long, Long Time,” their rendition of the famous 1945 tune.
