Busted Matt Willis has sparked concern after announcing a social media break.

The star left a worrying note on his Instagram following the premiere of his new documentary titled Fighting Addiction.

Matt, 40, wrote on Thursday (May 25): "I am having some downtime and not on social that much right now.

"Thanks for all your incredible messages about The Doc. Sorry I cannot answer all of them. I am not a trained therapist or counsellor.

"I am just a drug addict trying to stay clean. If you need help now, there are links at the bottom of the iPlayer videos."

"Talking about these things is a big step in the right direction… talk to someone… if they can't help you. Talk to someone else…"

In his new documentary, which was released on BBC One earlier this month, the musician opened up about how he struggled with addiction during his Busted heyday.

He then got sober for eight years after the birth of his and TV presenter wife Emma Willis' three children, but has relapsed.

Matt explained: "After one of [Busted's reunion] shows, someone offered me a line of coke, and I was like, 'Oh, cocaine wasn’t a problem for me, alcohol was my downfall.

"Within a month I was doing six grams on my own every f**king day and not coming home until three in the morning pretending I was working on an album, which I wasn’t really writing, I was making s**t music in the studio doing coke."

Big Brother icon Emma also spoke up on the doc and said: "We’ve been together for 18 years. Sometimes I feel like I’ve got four kids instead of three. There's been a lot of joy but equally, it’s been incredibly heavy at times."

Matt continued: “My kids know I don’t drink and I’ve been kind of as open as you can with kids about that. I’ve said it doesn’t work for me, but words like ‘addiction’ and ‘addict’ and stuff are quite scary words.

"My eldest is almost 14, we’re gonna watch [the doc together]. Her friends might watch it and I want to prepare her for that.

"She’s a clever kid. She gets it and she knows who I am now. It will be hard for her to see. I don’t feel like hiding kids away from anything is a good idea."
