Miley Cyrus “nearly died” after the star’s private jet was struck by lightning and was forced to make an emergency landing.
On Tuesday (March 22), the songstress and her close friends with given the fright of their lives when they were travelling from Bogota, Columbia to the Paraguayan capital city of Asuncion.
It is understood the 29-year-old was travelling to play at Asuncionico festival but was forced to cancel due at the last moment due to the terrifying incident.
Now, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker’s sister Brandi, who was also on board during the strike, has opened up about how the group “almost died”.
As she threw back a much-needed glass of champagne when they touched down, the starlet confessed: “I’m going to try not to be dramatic but we almost died.”
She then charged her glass with her close friend Val Pina as she shouted: “Bottoms up!” while her pal added: “Literally almost died.”
Brandi continued: “We just landed in I don’t even know where, 200 miles away from where we’re supposed to land and because lightning struck the plane so bottoms up!”
The songstress shared a clip of the plane being struck by a bolt of lightening alongside a close-up shot of the injured wing of the plane where the lightning hit as she reassured her 162million followers on Instagram.
She wrote: “To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asuncion. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lightning.”
“My crew, band, friends and family who were all travelling with me are safe after an emergency landing.”
She added: “We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. [heart broken emoji] I LOVE YOU.”
Luckily, her loyal legion of fans were more than understanding about the terrifying moment as they passed on their well wishes to the star online.
One user penned: “We’re happy you’re safe Miley. I hope fans from Paraguay can understand and hope to see you another time.”
Another added: “We are so happy that you, your family and team are okay. I can’t imagine how scary was going through a flight like this.”
A third penned: “Thank you for confirming that you are fine, we were quite worried about so much news. We love you [white love heart emoji].”
