Emma Thompson looks completely unrecognisable as she is transformed into the iconic Miss Trunchbull in Netflix's adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda.
The streaming giant released an official trailer on Wednesday (June 15) which showed the 63-year-old actress looking completely different.
In the trailer, Emma wears the headteacher's infamous military-style trench coat, with her hair scraped back into a bun and her teeth yellowed.
The film is based on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical version of Matilda. It will include the same much-loved songs and lyrics written by comedian Tim Minchin, which proved to be a bit hit on the West End.
Matilda tells the story of the title character who decides to take a stand against her family and the cruel Miss Trunchbull.
On her journey, Matilda discovers that she has special powers which will help her wreak havoc.
Fans have been left mesmerised by the first look at Emma in her new role.
One person Tweeted: "I gasped when I saw Emma Thompson in the Matilda trailer she's coming for that Oscar."
Another said: "I just know Emma Thompson’s been waiting to pull that Nanny McPhee nose back out."
One fan wrote: "Emma Thompson as Trunchbull is inspired."
The family-friendly film will be available to stream on Netflix at Christmas time.
Alisha Weir will take on the role of Matilda, while Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough will play her parents.
Matilda's inspirational teacher Miss Honey will be played by James Bond star Lashana Lynch.
The Netflix musical is being directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus and produced by Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan for Working Title, Jon Finn, and Luke Kelly of The Roald Dahl Story Company.
The film has been written by Dennis Kelly.
