Nicki Minaj's Queen Radio Is Coming Back On a New App

In 2018, Nicki Minaj launched her own radio show, Queen Radio, on Apple’s Beats 1 station. The show has been on hiatus as Minaj has focused on her family throughout the pandemic, but Queen Radio is on its way to being resurrected.

Nicki Minaj launched Queen Radio in 2018

The first Queen Radio show aired in August 2018, the night before Minaj’s Queen album was released. She continued to release episodes throughout 2019 and early 2020, eventually going on hiatus at the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Petty in October 2019, and announced in December of that year that she was retiring from music to focus on her family. She later gave birth to her first child in September 2020.

But after some time out of the spotlight, Minaj is back on the scene again with new singles “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Bussin’” and an album on the way. And as she gears up for her comeback album release, she’s bringing back Queen Radio in a new way.

Nicki Minaj is bringing back Queen Radio on Amazon’s Amp app

In March 2022, Minaj announced that she was partnering with Amazon Music to bring back Queen Radio in a new home. The show will be broadcast on Amp, a live radio app from Amazon.

Minaj went live on her Instagram to speak about the partnership and what the next chapter holds for Queen Radio.

“I am very excited to be partners with Amazon on bringing back Queen Radio,” Minaj said in her live. “Queen Radio is something that is so dear to my heart.”

She admitted that she questioned whether she even wanted to bring the radio show back, but decided that there’s no time like the present. “Of course, there have been times where I’ve thought about not wanting to do Queen Radio, or any radio for that matter,” she said, “but why not?”

“I want to say to Amazon, thank you guys so much for already being a really amazing partner with me on Queen Radio,” she added, before teasing some upcoming projects with the company. “We actually have so many things in store for you that I will be rolling out with Amazon.”

Big Boi, Pusha T, Lil Yachty, and other music stars have their own Amp shows

Similar to Clubhouse, Amazon’s Amp app is a free-to-download live streaming service that allows artists to act as a radio DJ while chatting with their listeners. The app launched in March 2022, and Minaj won’t be the only major artist with a show on the platform.

Big Boi, Pusha T, Lil Yachty, Tinashe, and Travis Barker are also joining the party on Amp with their own radio shows. The app is available to download from the iOS App Store, but fans will need an access code — which Minaj provided on Twitter — to use the app while it’s in beta.
