The BRIT Awards: Harry Styles thanks One Direction in speech
1D fans, this is not a drill. Rumours of a One Direction reunion have continued bubbling up behind the scenes for months, and a new report claims it has all but happened with a new song.
According to Birmingham Live, a source has information on Liam Payne’s next album which includes a collaboration between the pop star and his former One Direction pals.
The report claims that two other members of 1D have returned to the studio with Liam to work on his first new music since 2019, while the remaining two members have not been involved. This would also be the first time One Direction have worked together since their split in 2016.
Liam was reportedly joined in his new song by Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, both of whom are still good friends with the former boyband singer. Unfortunately, this report does suggest Harry Styles and Zayn Malik are not involved in Liam’s collaboration track.
The publication reported: “Liam is great pals with Niall and Louis, so loved catching up with them while they were all in LA. Being in the studio together felt natural, so they all jumped on a track.”
The source went on to say: “It was second nature to them singing together and felt like old times. They had a right laugh.”
However, there is a caveat to this newly recorded song. As with all albums, a lot of work and material can sometimes be left on the cutting room floor. As a result, the source went on: “Producers are hoping Liam includes it on his finished album, fans will love it.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Liam’s representatives for comment on this story.
After this incredible news was broken, the odds of a One Direction reunion have been drastically slashed, making them the lowest they have been in months.

Ladbrokes has given One Direction 1/2 odds on a reunion in the next 12 months – down from 6/4.
The company’s Alex Apati said: “Directioners the world over will be waking up to the best possible news, with an imminent reunion seeming more and more inevitable.”
The news that Harry is not involved is surprising, however, considering he has recently spoken out about bringing the band back together.
Harry appeared on James Corden’s final instalment of the Late Late Show where he was asked directly about a One Direction reunion.
He responded: “I think I would never say never to that. If there was a time when we wanted to do it, I don’t see why we wouldn’t.”
The Watermelon Sugar singer also previously said the “thought of it is really nice”.
