Singer-songwriter Leah is the daughter of Paul Weller and The Style Council vocalist Dee C Lee, with Leah showcasing her own musical talents on her new album, which was released today (October 21, 2022).

Talking about how the sweet moment influenced the song, Leah said: "It was a really lovely experience to do this song with my dad.

"I helped him co-write one of his tracks on his previous album, and that was really fun. I was hoping we could work on something together. It was really nice.

"He sent me this really cool track, and it just so happened that was the day I was seeing him to put down some lyrics, and that's when I told him the news.

"That was the day I wrote the song as well and that kind of helped with the lyrics, so it as just a really beautiful moment.

"I'll always remember it, as it was the first time I told him. It's a really nice memory for me."

The dreamy new album features a number of incredible songs including Summer At Last, Pale Blue Sky and Wonder, which tap into the album's recurrent themes of release, self-belief and living in the now.

Speaking about the tracks, which Leah describes as "modern soul," she paid tribute to producer and collaborator Steve Craddock, saying: "I'm really happy with how it came out and I'm really excited for the album to be out and everyone to hear everything."

She added: "A lot of the early tracks were just ideas that I had on a voice note. I just played it to Steve and he said, 'I really like this,' so we just started that way.

"I started writing it on guitar or piano, and then I'd send it to him, and the musical side of it would become something bigger.

"I definitely couldn't have done that without his influence."

Saying that she hopes listeners, "take something positive from those songs," she said the title of the album, Freedom, also had significance "on a more deep level, it was freedom from limitations," adding: "It had a lot of significance for me and the concept of the album, I think it suited."

Following the release of the phenomenal debut album today, Leah is excited to share the songs on the road as she embarks on a UK tour.

"I just want to keep writing, I want to try start a new album. I'm into writing, performing and touring.

I'm working towards a UK tour, just something small, and hopefully get to tour around different countries and stuff.

"At some point as well, I think it would nice to write for other artists or collab with some other artists."

And speaking of other artists, will dad Paul be joining Leah to perform Dive-In on the tour?

"I'm hoping that he'll join me for that song at some point, hopefully soon," Leah said.

"Hopefully he'll be up for it."
